Farmers Market

It’s the time of year for farmers markets!  According to the Daily Press, Virginia is one of the top 10 states for the number of farmers markets – with 277!  Take advantage of the Virginia Peninsula’s market variety and locations:farm market(1)

Dean & Don’s is a Newport News staple, operating in Denbigh for over 46 years!  Check out the large selection of fresh produce and seasonal fruits and vegetables grown on the Eastern seaboard.

Yorktown market days offers a great atmosphere of live music and seasonal fruits and veggies.  Located at Yorktown’s Riverwalk Landing, the market is open Saturdays 8am-12pm May through October.

Williamsburg Farmers Market is running into it’s 11th year!  This place has it all – from chocolate to wine to dog biscuits and more!  Saturdays 8am-12pm in Merchant’s Square see presentations by local chefs and take master gardening classes!

Peninsula Town Center is opening a new farmers market this year with it’s grand opening scheduled for May 5th.  The market will take place every Sunday 11am-3pm.

City Center‘s midweek market Thursdays 10am-2pm.  Features include seafood, herbs, baked goods, and free range chickens.

Smithfield Farmers Market features pork and peanuts.  Shoppers will find live music and even a small petting zoo!  The market is open on Main Street in downtown Smithfield on Saturdays from 9am-12pm between March and October.

The Gloucester market open Wednesday evening offers great social events.  From 4pm-7pm on Main Street participate in live music and community activities!
